This training is an opportunity to gain tools to facilitate dialogue, and to get in-depth knowledge and skills as a facilitator. Our training “Dialogue Facilitation” is based on field experiences from more than 20 years of work in a variety of situations, such as Western Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Norway.T
Please note: The training is open for Norwegian and some European residents, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. A reservation: The course will be arranged only if the situation around COVID-19 indicates that it is possible and safe.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Participants will gain in-depth knowledge and skills as a facilitator. This training will give improved communication skills, knowledge of creating a safe space for dialogue, and skills in facilitating dialogues in a conflict situation. You will also learn how to organize and conduct a public dialogue, and how to plan a dialogue session and design a dialogue process
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Practical exercises and theoretical knowledge in facilitating dialogue in different contexts ⎥How to handle sensitive topics and extreme opponents ⎥ The importance of trust and time in a dialogue process ⎥ How to ensure inclusion and equality in larger meetings ⎥ Practicing dialogue facilitation in a conflict situation ⎥ Introduction to public dialogue and practicing facilitation ⎥ Planning and designing dialogue sessions and processes
METHODOLOGY: This training is designed to practice dialogue facilitation, including introductions to the topics and reflections after practicing. Based on conflict stories provided by the participants themselves, and shared in groups, you are invited to facilitate a conflict where your fellow participants are the actors. Giving and receiving feedback on how you perform as a dialogue facilitator is a major part of the program.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The training is tailored for those who are interested in learning dialogue facilitation. If you have attended the Nansen Training Dialogue in Conflict (earlier named “Nansen Intensive Dialogue Training”) or similar, or have previous experience in applying dialogue in your professional or voluntary work, you are welcome to apply. Participation is limited to 20, based on a competitive selection process, and is gender, age, experience and geographically balanced. Full attendance is required.

We start on Monday morning, and we encourage everyone to arrive on Sunday.
TUITION FEE: 890 euro covering accommodation and meals.

ABOUT US: The Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue is an international meeting point for dialogue work and conflict management. We conduct trainings and facilitate dialogue, and our experience includes the Western Balkans, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Iraq, Colombia and Poland. In Norway we offer education for municipalities, schools and organizations.
ABOUT THE TRAINERS:
Norunn Grande, special advisor: Holds a cand. polit. degree in Political Science and has worked as advisor to the Norwegian National Commission for UNESCO. Norunn has worked as a lecturer at Follo Folk High School and director of Norwegian Peace Center and Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue. Currently she develops and conducts trainings and educational programs in conflict transformation, dialogue facilitation and peacebuilding, primarily in Norway and Afghanistan. She facilitates dialogues, makes training material and conducts reviews and evaluations.
Christiane Seehausen, senior advisor: A trained nurse with a bachelor’s degree in Multi-cultural understanding and further studies in organizational leadership, pedagogy, coaching and development. Christiane has worked as a director for an integration centre for refugees, and has developed an education program in cultural competence in cooperation with Eastern Norway Research institute and Inland Norway University for Applied Sciences. She has developed and implemented dialogue trainings in Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, and is facilitating dialogues in different contexts in Norway.
