Are you interested in improving your dialogue skills? Are you working on transforming conflicts or preventing its escalation? The Nansen Training in Dialogue and Conflict Transformation is based on our field experiences from more than 20 years of work in a variety of situations, such as Western Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan and Ukraine.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Participants will get theoretical and practical insight on how to use dialogue in field work. You will be introduced to tools for mapping and conflicts analysis, to understand and have a better overview of conflict situations, and to explore entry points and opportunities for conflict transformation.
The training will help participants to identify relationships between parties in conflict, making it easier to build trust between groups and individuals. Participants will practice how to become an active listener and how to pose good questions for a constructive dialogue. Through role play on conflict scenarios, participants will further develop their dialogue skills.

WHO IS THIS FOR? The training is for practitioners using dialogue to transform conflicts or prevent its escalation. It´s for you exploring how to use dialogue on conflicts or creating a space where people can talk about disagreements. You may work in development or humanitarian aid, or education, health, social welfare, gender, youth, social inclusion or migration issues. Participation is limited to 20, based on a competitive selection process, and is gender, age, experience and geographically balanced. The entire workshop is in English.
TUITION FEE: 890 Euro, covering accommodation, meals and one copy of the Nansen Handbook for Trainers in Dialogue and Conflict Transformation. Please note that travel costs and other personal costs are not included.

TRAINERS
Norunn Grande, special advisor: develops and conducts trainings and educational programs in dialogue, peace and conflict. She holds a Cand.polit. degree in Political Sciences and has previously worked as Adviser to the Norwegian National Commission for UNESCO, as a teacher at Follo Folk High School and director of the Norwegian Peace Center and Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue. Norunn Grande is a qualified conflict mediator with the Norwegian Mediation Service.
Chro Borhan, dialogue advisor: conducts trainings and facilitates dialogues. She holds a MA in Administration and Organization Theory from the University of Bergen. She has worked with unaccompanied underage asylum seekers, the Norwegian Social Welfare, human rights projects in the Middle East and at the Directorate of Integration and Diversity in Norway. Chro Borhan is a qualified conflict mediator with the Norwegian Mediation Service, team leader in Help increase the Peace Program (HIPP) and Alternatives to Violence (AVP).
